Mary Alastair posted a link on NZ-Libs (1st June) about the SF public Library. It created a lot of amusement as the sketches depicting the library users and their oddities are so alike around the world. When I worked at New Lynn Library a few years ago, this was my personal experience and view of the patrons there (old post in 2008)
"The library is supposed to be a safe and peacful haven for everybody. However we have all kinds coming in. People with challenging behaviours, people who sleep, people who fart, gangsters lurking around.....It's all a learning experience".
My employer has sent us to workshops on 'Challenging Behaviours' so that we can be better prepared to manage any such situations. That is why on busy days, there'll never a dull moment in my job.
